John
Patty is a formal political theorist whose research focuses on
political institutions. He regularly teaches
undergraduate courses on Congress and the federal bureaucracy as well
as graduate courses on game theory and formal models of political
institutions. His work has been published in American Journal of
Political Science, Economics & Politics, Electoral
Studies, Games & Economic Behavior, Journal of
Politics, Journal of Theoretical Politics, Mathematical
& Computer Modelling, Politics, Philosophy, &
Economics, Public Choice, Quarterly Journal of
Political Science, and Social Choice & Welfare. In
addition to serving as an Associate Editor of the American Journal of Political Science,
he currently serves on the editorial boards of Political
Analysis and Journal of
Theoretical Politics.
Professor Patty received his Ph.D. in Social Sciences from the California Institute of Technology in 2001. Prior to coming to Washington University, he was Assistant Professor of Political Economy and Decision Sciences at Carnegie Mellon University and Assistant Professor of Government at Harvard University.
